MAY 2020

The May issue of Aviation International News tackles the coronavirus crisis head-on, with multiple stories about how business and commercial aviation companies and people are pivoting to help out with manufacturing and transporting personal protective equipment.
In one of the final trips by an AIN editor before the pandemic shut down everything, editor-in-chief Matt Thurber traveled to Melbourne, Florida, to fly the new Embraer Phenom 300E light jet. Among the most interesting new features, he reports, are the Stabilized Approach and Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System, which can help prevent landing accidents.

Among the coronavirus updates are the Completion & Refurbishment column, which highlights how companies are managing workloads and taking care of customer needs during this time. While many aircraft are grounded, this is actually a good opportunity to get major work accomplished, according to AIN interiors writer James Wynbrandt.
Another segment hit hard by the pandemic is business aviation catering, which is dealing with massive reductions in business aircraft flying. However, caterers are stepping up and offering new safety processes to keep everyone in the food supply chain healthy, including passengers and flight crew, reports AIN senior editor Curt Epstein.

Finally, we say a heartfelt goodbye to a true aviation pioneer, with the passing of Joe Clark, co-founder of blended winglet developer Aviation Partners, Inc.
