Elbit Systems' Universal Avionics subsidiary won a $33 million contract from AerSale to supply enhanced flight vision systems (EFVS) for the Boeing 737NG in a deal to be executed through 2023, the Israeli company said Monday.

Under the contract, Universal Avionics will supply the ClearVision EFVS system, featuring the SkyLens 360-degree field of view head-wearable display and EVS-5000 camera/sensor. ClearVision is a certified combined vision system designed, according to Universal Avionics, “to enable commercial aircraft pilots to overcome degraded visibility situations at day and night, allowing them to move in and out of airports faster, saving time and increasing operational efficiency and safety.” SkyLens also enables pilots to operate and monitor flight information while retaining 3D situational awareness of terrain and aircraft traffic.

“We see a renewed demand in the commercial aviation market for innovative yet certified vision capabilities that enable efficient and safe flights during degraded visibility situations,” said Yoram Shmuely, general manager of Elbit Systems Aerospace.

Elbit Systems (Stand 1330) is an international technology company engaged in defense, homeland security, and commercial programs. It and its subsidiaries operate in the areas of aerospace, land and naval systems, C4ISR, unmanned aircraft systems, advanced electro-optics, electro-optic space systems, signal intelligence systems, data links, and communications systems, radios, cyber-based systems, and munitions.
